Its headquarters, art museum, and educational facilities are located in Burlington House and the Burlington Gardens building, in the borough of Westminster. It was founded in 1768 by a group of 40 artists and architects and was approved by George III.

  4. 17 de ago. de 2020 · In the furore that followed, several Royal Academicians resigned, but over 300,000 people came to see the show, proving the popular appeal of contemporary art. In the following years, the resigned RAs returned (well, most of them) and many of the exhibited artists have since become RAs themselves, including Tracey Emin , Gary Hume and Jenny Saville .

  5. Ever since the Royal Academy was founded in 1768, we’ve been collecting artworks, books and artistic materials. Every artist and architect that’s been elected to join us as a Royal Academician has donated an example of their work, known as a Diploma Work, to our Collection.
