May 24 – Duke Skule Bårdsson, claimant to the Norwegian throne, is defeated by King Haakon IV ( the Old) and his supporters. He seeks refuge in Elgeseter Priory in Trondheim, and Haakon burns down the monastery, in which Skule is burned alive.
