With a crowd of nearly 114,000 spectators, this game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground held the record for the highest attended exhibition baseball game ever until a 2008 American game in Los Angeles. The game was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 1, 1956. The game began at 12:30 PM before the track and field events, and as a result, an estimated crowd of 114,000 was on hand by the end of the game.
In 1956 a single exhibition game was played between an Australian team and a United States’ team made up of military personnel from the Far East. The US team played the Olympic demonstration as part of a tour of Australia running from 25 November to 18 December.
