General Charles Grey (15 March 1804 – 31 March 1870) was a British army officer, member of the British House of Commons and political figure in Lower Canada. In later life, he served as private secretary to Prince Albert and later Queen Victoria .

Major General Sir William Reid GCMG KCB FRS (25 April 1791 – 31 October 1858) was a Scottish military engineer, administrator and meteorologist. [1] He was Governor of the Bermudas (1839–1846), of the British Windward Islands (1846–1848), and of Malta (1851–1858). Reid founded the Bermuda National Library in 1839. [2]
Early military career. Anthony Bacon formerly of the 10th Hussars [2] was a Waterloo hero who won the Waterloo Medal . In 1826, after Lord Lucan 's purchase of the colonelcy of the 17th Lancers, he sold out in despair. Initially, he sent in his papers to the Duke of Wellington, but these were returned. He then sold his commission.
Several months later, he was sent to India with the Royal Horse Artillery. Promoted to captain, he returned to England at the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. [3] He received command of a battery and was sent to France. [3] Bridgeman was advanced to major in 1915 and in early 1917 joined 47th Divisional Artillery as Brigade major.
