Leipzig/Halle Airport (opened in 1927) is an international airport located in Schkeuditz, Saxony, and serves both Leipzig, Saxony, and Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. As of 2018 [update] it is Germany's 11th largest airport by passengers, handling more than 2.57 million mainly with flights to European leisure destinations.

The Max Planck Society is investing around 50 million euros to build a new building to enlarge the institute. Laboratories for research on computer technology of the next generations will be built here. The city of Halle and the Martin Luther University support the project, which will be completed in 2025.
