    Franklin is an unincorporated community in Crawford County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 473. Franklin is located along U.S. Route 69, 1 mile south of Arma, or 5.9 miles north of Frontenac.

    Franklin began as a mining community in the early 1900s. It is located just off Highway 69 Bypass which is a major corridor between Kansas City and Pittsburg, Ks./Joplin, Mo. Franklin was a shipping point on the Joplin & Pittsburg electric railroad. The first post office in Franklin was established in 1908.     Franklin Township is a township in Franklin County, Kansas, USA. As of the 2000 census, its population was 2,552. It is the most populated township in Franklin County.

    Franklin Township covers an area of 35.47 square miles and contains one incorporated settlement, Wellsville. According to the USGS, it contains one cemetery, Wellsville.

    On November 6, 2012, voters approved the creation of the Wellsville Fire District which combined the Franklin Township Fire Department and the City of Wellsville Fire Department. The new fire district became fully operational on January 1, 2014. The fire district board consists of the three members of the Franklin Township Board of Trustees and one member appointed by the City of Wellsville.

    Interstate 35 runs from the northeast to the southeast through Franklin Township. Kansas State Highway 33 runs north–south through Franklin Township. Franklin Township contains one airport or landing strip, Qualls-Hart Airport. A main line of the BNSF Railway runs through the middle of Franklin Township.

    Das Franklin County wurde am 30. August 1855 als Original-County gebildet und gehört damit zu den ersten 33 Countys, die von der ersten Territorial-Verwaltung gebildet wurden. Benannt wurde es nach Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790), einem der Gründerväterder USA. 18 Bauwerke und Stätten des Countys sind im National Register of Historic Placeseingetragen.

    Nach der Volkszählung im Jahr 2010lebten im Franklin County 25.992 Menschen in 10.244 Haushalten. Die Bevölkerungsdichte betrug 17,5 Einwohner pro Quadratkilometer. Ethnisch betrachtet setzte sich die Bevölkerung zusammen aus 93,7 Prozent Weißen, 1,3 Prozent Afroamerikanern, 0,8 Prozent amerikanischen Ureinwohnern, 0,4 Prozent Asiaten sowie aus anderen ethnischen Gruppen; 2,8 Prozent stammten von zwei oder mehr Ethnien ab. Unabhängig von der ethnischen Zugehörigkeit waren 3,6 Prozent der Bevölkerung spanischer oder lateinamerikanischer Abstammung. In den 10.244 Haushalten lebten statistisch je 2,51 Personen. 25,5 Prozent der Bevölkerung waren unter 18 Jahre alt, 61,6 Prozent waren zwischen 18 und 64 und 12,9 Prozent waren 65 Jahre oder älter. 49,9 Prozent der Bevölkerung war weiblich. Das jährliche Durchschnittseinkommen eines Haushalts lag bei 46.584 USD. Das Prokopfeinkommenbetrug 22.307 USD. 11,2 Prozent der Einwohner lebten unterhalb der Armutsgrenze.
