Carouge es una ciudad y comuna suiza del cantón de Ginebra . Historia. El burgo de Carouge se convirtió en la capital de la provincia del mismo nombre en 1780, en la época de Víctor Amadeo III de Saboya, para hacer frente a la ciudad de Ginebra. El burgo progresa rápidamente hasta convertirse en ciudad en 1786.
Carouge is first mentioned in the Early Middle Ages as Quadruvium and Quatruvio. In 1248 it was mentioned as Carrogium while in the 14th century it was known as Quarrouiz or Quarroggi. In 1445 it was mentioned as Quaroggio. [3] The current city was built by Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia, King of Sardinia and Duke of Savoy, starting in 1760–70.

Carouge jouxte la ville de Genève, dont elle est séparée par la rivière Arve, et fait partie de la République et Canton de Genève depuis 1816.
