Assam (o Asam) es un estado de la República de la India. Su capital es Dispur y su capital comercial, Guwahati. Está ubicado al noreste del país, limitando al norte con Bután y Arunachal Pradesh, al sur con Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura y Megalaya, al suroeste con Bangladés y al oeste con Bengala Occidental.

Hace 2 días · Assam is a state in northeastern India. The name Assam is said to be derived from the word ‘asama,’ meaning ‘peerless’ in the now extinct Ahom language. The neighboring states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya were once part of Assam.
The historical account of Assam begins with the establishment of Pushyavarman's Varman dynasty in the 4th century in the Kamarupa kingdom, which marks the beginning of Ancient Assam. The kingdom reached its traditional extent, from the Karatoya in the west to Sadiya in the east. [7]
