Hampstead (/ ˈ h æ m p s t ɪ d,-s t ɛ d /) is an area in London, England, which lies four miles (six kilometres) northwest of Charing Cross, and extends from the A5 road (Roman Watling Street) to Hampstead Heath, a large, hilly expanse of parkland.
