Makó is home to 21,913 people and it has an area of 229.23 square kilometres (88.51 square miles), of which 196.8 km 2 (76.0 sq mi) is arable land. Makó is the fourth-largest town in Csongrád County after Szeged, Hódmezővásárhely and Szentes.
The exploration of the Makó unconventional natural gas field caused huge costs for Falcon's interest: the 2010 balance sheet posted a loss of $100 million and the 2011 a loss of $32 million. The loss was borne by TXM Oil and Gas Research, Inc., owned by Mako Energy Corporation, a Delaware State (USA) subsidiary of Falcon Oil & Gas Ltd., Canada.

The Makó Orthodox Synagogue is the only standing synagogue in Makó, Hungary, and is the second largest Orthodox synagogue in the country. History. The single-nave synagogue was built in 1895 (128 years ago) in a romantic style by the Orthodox community, which became independent in 1872.

Makó ( chorvatsky Makovo, rumunsky Macău, slovensky Makov, v jidiš מאַקאָוו ) je město v jihovýchodním Maďarsku v župě Csongrád-Csanád, nacházející se těsně u hranic Rumunska (3 km), u břehu řeky Maros. Nachází se asi 22 km východně od Szegedu a je správním městem stejnojmenného okresu.
