Die Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) in Sachsen-Anhalt mit Hauptsitz in Halle (Saale) ging 1817 aus zwei Vorgängereinrichtungen hervor. Die ältere wurde 1502 als Leucorea in Wittenberg gegründet. Die jüngere Friedrichs-Universität entstand 1694 auf Veranlassung des Brandenburgischen Kurfürsten Friedrich III. in Halle.

18 de feb. de 2021 · History of the University. Today’s Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg – as already shown by its name – has two historical roots. One comes from the Saxon Prince-Elector, Frederick the Wise, who opened Leucorea University in Wittenberg in 1502, where important scholars such as the reformers Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon taught.
