Moldoveanu Peak (Romanian: Vârful Moldoveanu) is the highest mountain in Romania. It is in the Făgăraş Mountains of the Southern Carpathians . The most-used paths to reach Moldoveanu are over the Vistea Mare Peak (2527m), by paths coming from Podragu, Sambata, or by the Vistea Valley.

Moldoveanu Peak is country’s highest point with its 2544 m, only 17 m higher than his twin brother - Viştea Mare Peak (2527 m, 3rd highest in Romania) – located 420 meters to the North. Together they form the well known and easy to recognize trapezoid Viştea Mare – Moldoveanu, the highest ridge in Făgăraş Mountains and in the whole country.

Varful Moldoveanu are altitudinea de 2544m si formeaza, alaturi de Varful Vistea Mare 2527m (al treilea cel mai inalt varf din Romania, dupa Moldoveanu si Negoiu) o creasta in forma de trapez. Din acest motiv acest munte este denumit si Marele Trapez sau Trapezul Vistea-Moldoveanu.
