The Isle of Ely ( / ˈiːli /) is a historic region around the city of Ely in Cambridgeshire, England. Between 1889 and 1965, it formed an administrative county . Etymology Its name has been said to mean "island of eels ", a reference to the creatures that were often caught in the local rivers for food.

Ely (/ ˈ iː l i /, EE-lee) is the largest city and county seat of White Pine County, Nevada, United States. Ely was founded as a stagecoach station along the Pony Express and Central Overland Route. In 1906 copper was discovered. Ely's mining boom came later than the other towns along US 50.

Ronald Pierce Ely (born June 21, 1938) is an American actor and novelist born in Hereford, Texas, and raised in Amarillo. Ely is best known for having portrayed Tarzan in the 1966–1968 NBC series Tarzan and for playing the lead role in the film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (1975). [2]
