Melhus (or Nedre Melhus) is the administrative centre of Melhus municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located in the lower Gauldalen valley, along the river Gaula, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south of the city of Trondheim.
Melhus er en kommune i Trøndelag. Den grenser i nord og øst til Trondheim, i øst til Selbu, i sør til Midtre Gauldal og i vest til Orkland og Skaun. Kommunen, slik den er i dag, ble til 1. januar 1964 da kommunene Horg, Flå, Hølonda og Melhus slo seg sammen. Den gamle kommunen Melhus har i ettertid ofte blitt kalt «Nedre Melhus».
