Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (Louise Dorothea Pauline Charlotte Fredericka Auguste); (21 December 1800 – 30 August 1831) was the wife of Ernst I, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and the mother of Duke Ernst II and Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria.

Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (Louise Dorothea Pauline Charlotte Fredericka Auguste); (21 December 1800 – 30 August 1831) was the wife of Ernst I, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and the mother of Duke Ernst II and Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria.
In Ebersdorf on 13 June 1777, Augusta married Francis, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, who previously acquired the Artemisia painting for four times the original price because he was deeply in love with Augusta, but he was already obliged to marry his relative Princess Sophie of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

Her portrait of Prince Albert and Prince Ernest, the sons of Princess Louise, is in the Royal Collection (RCIN 408925). This posthumous portrait depicts Prince Albert’s mother, the first wife of Ernest I, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1784-1844).
This is one of two portraits of Princess Louise, considered to be after Ludwig Döll, in the Royal Collection (see also RCIN 403688). In addition there are two copies of a group portrait after the same artist, depicting the Princess with her sons Ernst and Albert (RCIN 404517, 400951).
