En julio de 1983, Mercyful Fate grabó su álbum debut en los estudios Easy Sound Recording, en Copenhague. El disco, titulado Melissa, lo produjo Henrik Lund y lo publicó la discográfica Roadrunner Records el 30 de octubre de 1983. [7]
