Soleure (Solothurn en allemand, Soletta en italien, Soloturn en romanche) est une ville suisse, chef-lieu du canton de Soleure. Ayant abrité le siège de l'ambassade du royaume de France en Suisse de 1530 à 1792, Soleure est traditionnellement appelée « ville des ambassadeurs ».
Solothurn is regarded as the finest Baroque town in Switzerland, where Italian grandeur is combined with French charm and German practicality. The so-called «ambassador’s town» is at the southern end of the Jura by the River Aare, about 30 km east of Biel/Bienne.
Solothurn liegt im Mittelland und Jura zwischen den Kantonen Bern, Basel-Landschaft, Aargau und Jura und dem Elsass. Ausläufer des Kantonsgebiets reichen bis Dornach nahe Basel, weit ins Berner Gebiet hinein, gehen östlich bis fast nach Aarau.
