Red Shirt / Retirony : Lampshaded by an old cop that gets killed by Frank's house exploding, who was two days away from retiring.
Danny disarms Benedict, allowing Slater to shoot Benedict in his explosive glass eye, killing him; however, the blast causes the stub to be lost. With Slater losing blood, Danny knows the only way to save him is to return him to the fictional world, where his injury will become a flesh wound.
