4 de ago. de 2021 · A tattoo that's trendy at one particular time tends to look dated a couple of decades later. If you're going to do it, I would try to find a way to make it very unique to you. Not just a generic skull or the words "memento mori".
19 de ago. de 2017 · I wanted a Memento Mori tattoo for years, as I find it one of the Stoics' most inspirational tools for living a good life. I realized by not getting the tattoo (and putting it off for later) I was being a hypocrite. I still get very weird looks when most people ask what it means, but I love it.
25 de ene. de 2022 · Maybe a burning lamp would be better, signifying the virgins who are ready. It's from the same "set" of parables told. The skull seems generic because it’s like the OG symbol for death. Adding the text “memento mori” makes the meaning plainer. I’ve also seen “tempus fugit; memento mori” (time flies; remember death).
"Memento Mori" literally just means "remember death." It's meant to serve as an eternal reminder that death comes for us all, and we should never forget it. It has nothing to do with religion and is not intrinsically linked to Christianity at all. Latin was a language long before it was used for religion.

Looking for some inspiration from the community for my next tattoo, the theme being the impermanence of life as a reminder to enjoy the present. A slave would have the job of whispering “memento mori” in his ear throughout to keep it from getting to his head. Memento Viviere is not a phrase that has any historical significance, people have been getting it tattooed lately though thinking it’s like the other side of the coin or something. It’s dumb.
26 de mar. de 2016 · Has an ecological bend in the sense that it reminds me that ecosystems are fragile and humans can easily become extinct ourselves if we aren't careful (so a memento mori on a species scale) Dinosaurs are neat. Maybe a dino skull, as a fun twist on the usual skull. I dunno, I'm workshopping the idea for my next tattoo. 3.
