Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Van Zant (Jacksonville, Florida; 15 de enero de 1948 - Gillsburg, Misisipi; 20 de octubre de 1977) fue el principal vocalista y compositor de la banda estadounidense de rock sureño Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Early in the flight, witnesses recall that lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant was lying on the floor with a pillow, having been up most of the previous night and being in need of sleep. Several other passengers passed the time by playing cards.
Growing up on Mull Street, Ronnie was the undisputed king among the boys who would gather to play baseball or football -- games that usually degenerated into raucous free-for-alls because of a missed catch or disputed strike. These games introduced Ronnie with his first love -- baseball.
