22 de ene. de 2024 · It was evident there was an overwhelming range of online learning resources for elementary mathematics, however, most were developed for young students learning the concepts for the first time. The team worked to differentiate their modules from preexisting resources and make them more relevant for teacher candidates.

The OISE Library supports the graduate studies, research and field development of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. It has a specialized collection in the field of education, including curriculum, multimedia, languages, women's studies and Franco-Ontarienne materials.
To help ensure students feel free to express their ASK (and not try to guess what the teacher thinks is correct), teacher instructions & questions should be mostly student-directed & open-ended (see Lock (1990) model). Teacher instructions and questions should, in other words, err on the side of divergence – allowing for many different responses.
If you suspect your student will answer correctly if asked a second time, feel free to do so. You may wish to provide additional information to help your student arrive at the correct answer. This, too, will provide insight into their thinking. Tell your student you need help placing the fraction ½ on the number line.

PeppeR is the name for an online discussion tool developed by Jim Hewitt and Clare Brett of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). The tool is a collaborative workspace where students can engage in in-depth inquiry supportive of their efforts to share information, identify key ideas, and progressively work to improve those ideas.
