Applicants for the Member Grade will have achieved the IFE's Level 4 Certificate or have relevant academic qualifications at the level of an Honours Degree in a fire related subject or other recognized educational program.
The IFE offers five qualifications as either Certificates or a Diploma. Each qualification is briefly described on this page. The five qualifications are: The IFE Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety (VRQ) The IFE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations, Fire Safety and Management (VRQ)
Applicants for Technician will have achieved an IFE Level 3 Certificate through examinations or have relevant academic qualifications to the level of NVQ3 or UK Sub Officer/Junior Officer 2 examinations; plus the necessary experience required to demonstrate that they meet the competence based requirements for this grade.

Graduate Grade (GIFireE) Applicants for Graduate grade will have achieved the IFE Level 3 Diploma or have relevant academic/professional qualifications to the level of Ontario Fire Marshall Company Officer, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer, HNC/HND or UK Station Officer Examinations plus three years of acceptable training and responsible experience in Fire Engineering.
