So "good day" can be used instead of "good morning" or "good afternoon" but not instead of "good evening". Share.
This is a good day. It is a good day. Today is a good day. It is a good day today. As far as I can remember all of them can be used. If we can use them all interchangeably, can I also replace "day" with "week", "month" and "year" in all those sentences? Like "This is a good year.", "It is a good year.".
Among the greetings there is another one "good day" (as a greeting!). When I've heard the phrase "good day" firstly it sounded to me weird or foreign as if someone translated it from other language. Today I was told by American English speaker that in the US it is not in use. I'm afraid that in another English speaking countries it is not in use.
15 de oct. de 2015 · It depends on whether "Good day, sir" is said as a greeting, as a parting comment, or as an abrupt dismissal. You could respond with "Good morning" or "Good afternoon". It would be anachronistic in many parts of the English-speaking world. I'd reply with ANY beginning-of-a-conversation greeting as well. (i.e., 'Hi', 'Hello', etc.)

If you want to talk about the satisfactoriness of the day with the verb to go, you have to use well and not good, because well is an adverb that modifies the verb to go, and good is an adjective.

But, especially when spoken by a non-native English speaker, the ambiguous "good for tomorrow" is apt to be confusing. It makes more sense to simply ask "Are we still having a meeting tomorrow?", or some such. –

But generally one would use today when referring to the actual day in contrast to using for today when talking about something in connection with that day. See preposition for. Examples: "I will be working 8 hours today." "8 hours should be enough for today."
Instead you can structure it something like: Tomorrow, it is the anniversary of the day, many years ago, the six-fingered man killed my father, and I swore I would have my vengeance. But this is all dramatic narrative. If you want to be less dramatic, don't add it and just say something like:
