Backstage is the first selectable game mode in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2. It consists of 3 regular levels and 2 hard mode levels.
Like the name suggests, the player is tasked to do various tasks throughout Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex such as Arts and Crafts in Superstar Daycare and makeup in the
Arts and Crafts: Daycare
Sun welcomes the player to the Superstar Daycare as Arts and Crafts time begins. The level is split into three segments. The first involves painting a picture, which first requires using a rubber dart gun to tell Sun to grab a paint brush from the craft shelves. A screen will show a random picture, with sections painted in different colors, although it will change to static from time to time. After grabbing the picture from the craft shelf, the player can start painting, using the red, yellow and blue paint cans, as well as mixing paints together to make secondary colors like green, orange and purple. After the player is done of making the picture, Sun would check the picture. If the player takes too long or runs out of time, Sun will jumpscare them. If they get it wrong, Sun will also jumpscare them. If they get it right, Sun will praise the painting, only to shred it. The second phase is making Paper Pals. The player must grab the specific parts to match the look of the Paper Pal. If the part needed isn't on the shelf, the player can pull a rope to shift the crafting shelves and get new supplies. Once the Paper Pal is created correctly, Sun once again shreds it. This is also the phase where light bulbs appear among the materials in the craft shelves. The player must avoid shooting these as all lights will turn off, leaving the player in pitch darkness for a few seconds. Moon can be heard when the lights are off. Hitting the lights 3 times results in Moon jumpscaring the player and a game over. The third and final phrase is making Paper Pals and painting them. All previous mechanics are in play, along with the lights in the Daycare starting to dim. The game ends when a painted Paper Pal is made successfully.
Salon: S.T.A.F.F Makeover
The S.T.A.F.F Bots need to be accessorized before going to showtime. To the player's left is several deactivated S.T.A.F.F Bots being used like mannequins, having Glamrock themed wigs, glasses, earings and other accessories. To the player's right is a Glamrock themed makeup pallete and a computer screen displaying what accessories and colored makeup needs to be added and where. Occasionally, Glitchtrap will appear and glitch out the screen to obscure the instructions for a brief period. If a makeover doesn't match the diagram, the S.T.A.F.F Bot gets in line with red unsatisfied eyes. This happens two times before the player is jumpscared the third time. The player must accessorize 5 S.T.A.F.F Bots to win.
Salon: Glam Makeover
Now in the Glamrock Beauty Salon, the player is tasked with giving Roxanne Wolf a makeover she approves of. The S.T.A.F.F mannequins, makeup pallete and computer diagram all return in the same positions they were in the S.T.A.F.F Bot level. Glitchtrap will also appear and glitch the screen at random. However, there is now an added obstacle; Roxanne herself. She demands the player's constant attention, and must be kept in the field of vision as much as possible. Not looking at her causes an anger meter to fill on the computer. If it's full, Roxanne will attack. The player must get through three rounds to win.
Salon: Roxy Repair
Aesthetically, the environment is now dilapidated like it was in RUIN. Roxanne Wolf is now in a variation of her Shattered design, albeit with her face in an even greater state of disrepair than before. The level plays the same, but Roxanne Wolf is far more aggressive. However, she can be calmed using the Roxy Talky, which has pre-recorded lines of Roxanne complimenting herself. The S.T.A.F.F mannequins now resemble the Nightmarionne S.T.A.F.F Bots, with parts of other animatronics on them. The level ends with Roxanne unsatisfied, allowing the player to put her mask from her Ruined design on her. Roxanne turns her back to the player and asks them to leave her alone, wondering to herself where "he" could be hiding.
Arts and Crafts: Loft
The loft above the Superstar Daycare is in its ruined state, with the Daycare Attendant also in his Ruined design. A dejected Sun wants the player to leave after arts and crafts time is finished. The level plays the same, although there is the introduction of new colors; brown, which can be made by mixing primary colors with secondary colors, as well as silver glitter and cyan battery acid, which comes in their own cans. Each can has numbers on them that correspond with the numbers on the diagram, and mixed colors are made when those numbers are added together. The time limit for making the Paper Pals and their painted versions is removed. However, this comes with the caveat of Moon coming out. The player must use a flashlight to drive the Daycare Attendant back.
Coins
Two Faz-Tokens can be found throughout the minigames. •A coin can be found under the glue container in the Arts and Crafts: Daycare level. •A coin can be found on the bottom shelf of the desk to the player's right in the Salon: Roxy Repair level.

•Sun has various voicelines where he acts like a theater coach. This may be a reference to the Tales from the Pizzaplex story "Bobbiedots, Part 1", which revealed how the Daycare Attendant was originally programmed to be an actor in the Fazbear Theater.
•Parts of Glamrock Chica, Montgomery Gator, Ballora, Bidybab, Glamrock Endo and sewer S.T.A.F.F. Bots all appear in Roxy Repair.
•The mask being given Roxanne Wolf explains how her appearance changed between Security Breach and Ruin.
•The hardmode Arts and Crafts level reveals what a ruined Freddy Fazbear, Happy Frog and Caution Bot would look like.
