13 de jul. de 2024 · Sahara, largest desert in the world. Filling nearly all of northern Africa, it measures approximately 3,000 miles (4,800 km) from east to west and between 800 to 1,200 miles from north to south and has a total area of some 3,320,000 square miles (8,600,000 square km).
Other than the vast expanses of ice desert in the Antarctic and Arctic, the Sahara, encompassing most of northern Africa, is the world's largest desert. Map. Directions.
With an area of 9,200,000 square kilometres (3,600,000 sq mi), it is the largest hot desert in the world and the third-largest desert overall, smaller only than the deserts of Antarctica and the northern Arctic.
