ZooKeeper is feature-light, meaning that mechanisms such as leader election, locks, barriers, etc. are not already present, but can be written above the ZooKeeper primitives. If the C/Java API is too unwieldy for your purposes, you should rely on libraries built on ZooKeeper such as cages and especially curator .
30 de mar. de 2016 · I’m learning Zookeeper and so far I don't understand the purpose of using it for distributed systems that databases can't solve. The use cases I’ve read are implementing a lock, barrier, etc for distributed systems by having Zookeeper clients read/write to Zookeeper servers. Can’t the same be achieved by read/write to databases?
Zookeeper is just a Java process and when you start a Zookeeper instance it runs a org.apache.zookeeper.server.quorum.QuorumPeerMain class. So you can check for a running Zookeeper like this: jps -l | grep zookeeper or even like this: jps | grep Quorum upd: regarding this: will hostname be the hostname of my box?? - the answer is yes.
31 de ene. de 2017 · @LucasRezende I assume you are using ZooNavigator via Docker, if so you have to make sure ZooKeeper is reachable from ZooNavigator API container using the exact same address you enter in the connection form since that container might be running on different network than ZooKeeper.
11 de ene. de 2020 · Had the same issue right now. If you are using the docker-compose version, the zookeeper logs have their own volume. For me, it was enough to delete the volume and then run ./install.sh again. The volume will be recreated by ./install.sh anyay. docker volume rm sentry-self-hosted_sentry-zookeeper-log

So, to start zookeeper: bin/zookeeper-server-start.sh config/zookeeper.properties And for starting KAFKA server: bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties

Place kafka close to the root of your drive so that the path to it is very short. When you run those Kafka batch files included in the windows directory, they muck with your environment variables (the classpath one) and can create a very long input line to actually run the command/jar.
