The show begins on June 14, 1983 in Compton, a neighborhood in South Central Los Angeles, where some kids run up to the ice cream truck and while the driver is distracted serving the children, a couple of kids snatch some candy and start running while being tailed by the driver. Franklin and his friends attend a wrestling match where they watch his favorite wrestler and aspiring luchador Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata face his opponent in a single match.
