This is a film that dares to dream on a cosmic scale, that reaches for the stars both literally and figuratively.
Hace 3 días · Produced by Gus Dudgeon and recorded at Trident Studios in London, it is a tale about a fictional astronaut named Major Tom; its title and subject matter were partly inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and Bowie's feelings of alienation at that point in his career.

Hace 3 días · As Homer’s hero in the Odyssey is “Odysseus the godlike, he who is beyond all other men in mind” (Homer 1991, p. 29), Kubrick’s hero in 2001: A Space Odyssey is Dave Bowman, a superior astronaut and master of instrumental reason. If Dave is the new Odysseus of the “space odyssey,” then Hal as the red eye of the ship is the new Cyclops.
