Hace 3 días · It was said (in November 1573), that Mary gave James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell jewels worth 20 or 30,000 crowns. Bothwell was said to have left jewels given to him by Mary worth 20,000 crowns in Edinburgh Castle when he fled to Orkney.

Bothwell was active in municipal affairs, representing Ward 3 on city council for several years, reeve from 1892 to 1894, and served as Barrie’s mayor in 1895 and again in 1896.
