George William Campbell, 6th Duke of Argyll, GCH, PC (22 September 1768 – 22 October 1839), styled Earl of Campbell from 1768 to 1770 and Marquess of Lorne from 1770 to 1806, was a Scottish Whig politician and nobleman.
Duke of Argyll ( Scottish Gaelic: Diùc Earraghàidheil) is a title created in the peerage of Scotland in 1701 and in the peerage of the United Kingdom in 1892. The earls, marquesses, and dukes of Argyll were for several centuries among the most powerful noble families in Scotland.

Thus on the death of his half-brother, the Duke of Hamilton, in 1799, George inherited the barony of Hamilton conferred on his mother. He Served from 1790-96 as a Member of Parliament for St. Germain, as Lord Lieutenant for county Argyll from 1800 to his death in 1839, as Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland from 1827-39, and as Lord Steward of the Household from 1833-34 and 1835-39.

He succeeded to the title of 6th Duke of Argyll [U.K., 1892] on 21 April 2001. He succeeded to the title of Hereditary Master of the Royal Household in Scotland [S., 1667] on 21 April 2001. He succeeded to the title of Hereditary Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland on 21 April 2001.
