Early life. Hocazade Esad Efendi was born in Istanbul, on 14 June 1570. He was the second son of Hoca Sadeddin Efendi. [1] He had four brothers, Mehmed Efendi (died 1615), Mesud Efendi (died 1597), Abdülaziz Efendi (died 1618), Salih Efendi. [2] He was educated by his father and famous scholar Molla Tevfik Gialni.
