Tachygraphy has an abugida-like quality. Consonants are written out with their own simple characters. The vowel between two consonants is indicated by the positioning of the second consonant. So a word might be written along the lines of “L _”, where L, Λ, and - are different consonants and their heights represent different vowels in between.
