Dorothea Augusta of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp (12 May 1602 – 13 March 1682) was a German noblewoman from the House of (Schleswig-)Holstein-Gottorp, a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg. She became the first Duchess of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Plön [1] as the wife of Duke Joachim Ernest (1595–1671).
The dynastic name Holstein-Gottorp comes as convenient usage from the technically more correct Duke of Schleswig and Holstein at Gottorp. Adolf, the third son of Duke and King Frederick I and the second youngest half-brother of King Christian III , founded the dynastic branch called House of Holstein-Gottorp , which is a cadet branch of the then royal Danish House of Oldenburg .
Anna of Holstein-Gottorp (27 February 1575 – 24 April 1610) was a German noblewoman, member of the House of Holstein-Gottorp by birth and House of Hesse by marriage. Early life [ edit ] Anna was born as the seventh child and fourth daughter of Duke Adolf of Holstein-Gottorp and his wife, Landgravine Christine of Hesse (daughter of Landgrave Philip I of Hesse ).
