Alastair Duff (who would have been styled Marquess of Macduff, stillborn 16 June 1890); Lady Alexandra Duff (later styled H.H. Princess Alexandra , 17 May 1891 – 26 February 1959) married her first cousin once removed Prince Arthur of Connaught (13 January 1883 – 12 September 1938), and had one son, Alastair Windsor, 2nd Duke of Connaught and Strathearn; and
Louise married Alexander Duff, 6th Earl Fife, on 27 July 1889 at Buckingham Palace. Two days after the wedding, Alexander was created 1st Duke of Fife and Marquess of Macduff with the peerage set to be inherited down the male line, however when it became obvious there would be no surviving male heir, a second dukedom of Fife was created which could be passed through the female line.

Alexander William George Duff, 1st Duke of Fife, KG, KT, GCVO, VD, PC (10 November 1849 – 29 January 1912) styled Viscount Macduff between 1857 and 1879 and known as the Earl Fife between 1879 and 1889, was a Scottish nobleman and peer who married Princess Louise, the third child and eldest daughter of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.

She and her sisters Victoria and Maud had spent much of their childhood away from court, in the summers at their father’s estate at Sandringham in Norfolk, or sometimes with their mother’s relatives in Denmark.
Motto. Deo juvante ( Latin for 'With God's help') Earl Fife was a title in the Peerage of Ireland created by letters patent dated 26 April 1759 for William Duff, 1st Baron Braco, after asserting (but not proving) his descent from Macduff, the medieval Earl of Fife. Though in the Irish peerage, the title's name refers to Fife in Scotland.
