Alberto Giacometti Pintor y escultor suizo Nació el 10 de octubre de 1901 en Stampa. Hijo del pintor postimpresionista Giovanni Giacometti. Estudia pintura en la Escuela de Bellas Artes y escultura y dibujo en la de Artes y Oficios de Ginebra.
Con catorce años, en 1914–15, Alberto Giacometti esculpe el busto de su hermano Diego en el estudio de su padre y, hacia 1915, crea su primera pintura al óleo, Naturaleza muerta con manzanas. Tanto su padre como su padrino, el pintor simbolista Cuno Amiet (1868–1961), serán figuras fundamentales en la evolución artística del joven Alberto.

Alberto Giacometti nació en Borgonovo, Stampa, (Suiza) en 1901, en el seno de una familia de artistas. Su padre era Giovanni Giacometti, pintor neoimpresionista y su tío, Augusto Giacometti, también era pintor. Desde muy temprana edad demostró una habilidad especial para la escultura y la pintura.
