With Austrian resources stretched by the outbreak of the War of the Mantuan Succession, Wallenstein persuaded Ferdinand to agree with relatively lenient terms in the June 1629 Treaty of Lübeck.

During the Thirty Years' War, it suffered extensive damage when captured and burned by Prince Albrecht von Wallenstein's forces. Attempts at rebuilding in the 17th and 18th centuries were incomplete.

Anschließend fiel die Burg aber in den Besitz von Schweden, sodass dort niemand mehr wohnte. In der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts wurde sie zum Wallfahrtsort der Mönche von Montserrat.

Dare vita a un edificio che potesse rivaleggiare con il Castello di Praga. Oggi è ancora un piccolo capolavoro architettonico, circondato da bellissimi giardini aperti nella stagione estiva.
