Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 10, 1849. He was the only son of James Duff, 5th Earl Fife and Lady Agnes Hay, daughter of William Hay, 18th Earl of Erroll and Lady Elizabeth FitzClarence who was an illegitimate daughter of King William IV and his mistress Dorothea Jordan.
Fils de James Duff et d' Agnes Hay (en) (petite-fille du roi Guillaume IV du Royaume-Uni et de sa maîtresse Dorothea Jordan ), il étudie au Eton College . Il est membre de la Chambre des communes de 1874 à 1879. En 1879, il succède à son père dans le titre de comte Fife et à la Chambre des lords. Il est créé duc de Fife en 1889.

25 de ene. de 2022 · The only son of the 5 th Earl and Countess, Alexander Duff was born in 1849 in Edinburgh, and after his father had become Earl Fife, was known as ‘Viscount Macduff’. In the 1870s, he was an MP for Elginshire, and Lord Lieutenant of that county (the former, formal name for Morayshire).

Alexander William George “1st Duke of Fife” Duff. Born at Delgaty Castle in Aberdeenshire, the son of Sir James, 5th Earl of Fife and his wife Lady Agnese Haye. He married Princess Louisa Victoria Alexandria of Wales on 27 June 1889. After the wedding, Queen Victoria, Louise's grandmother, created him Duke of Fife and Marquess of MacDuff.
