Lady Maud Duff, later Her Highness Princess Maud (3 April 1883-14 December 1945) m. Charles Carnegie, 11th Earl of Southesk, and had issue. The Duke of Fife received a fresh patent as Duke of Fife and Earl of Macduff in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in April 1900, with special remainder to his daughters by Princess Louise and their male issue.
Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife the husband of Louise, Princess Royal died on 12 January 1912. The previous month the entire family had been shipwrecked on route to Egypt. He was succeeded by his daughter Princess Alexandra who later became Princess Arthur of Connaught.

25 de ene. de 2022 · The only son of the 5 th Earl and Countess, Alexander Duff was born in 1849 in Edinburgh, and after his father had become Earl Fife, was known as ‘Viscount Macduff’. In the 1870s, he was an MP for Elginshire, and Lord Lieutenant of that county (the former, formal name for Morayshire).
Alexander William George “1st Duke of Fife” Duff. Born at Delgaty Castle in Aberdeenshire, the son of Sir James, 5th Earl of Fife and his wife Lady Agnese Haye. He married Princess Louisa Victoria Alexandria of Wales on 27 June 1889. After the wedding, Queen Victoria, Louise's grandmother, created him Duke of Fife and Marquess of MacDuff.
