Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke of Gordon, KT (18 June 1743 – 17 June 1827), styled Marquess of Huntly until 1752, was a Scottish nobleman, described by Kaimes as the "greatest subject in Britain", and was also known as the Cock o' the North, the traditional epithet attached to the chief of the Gordon clan .

  3. The 3rd Duke died in France in 1752 and his widow, who married General Staats Long Morris, lived on until 1799. Alexander Gordon was born at Gordon Castle in 1743 and succeeded his father as 4th Duke of Gordon. He was educated at Eton and afterwards entered the Army, becoming a Colonel in 1793.
