Today it’s among the most visited attractions in this tiny Central American country, especially by cruisegoers arriving at Belize city’s nearby port. Structure B4 is located in the core of Altun Há’s largest ceremonial center.

This site is composed of 44 acres of archaeological history. First settled around 250 BC, Altun Ha is a relative newcomer when compared to other Belize ruins that harken back to 1000 BC, but it’s so unique, it’s well worth touring this place. Over 200 species of birds also call the area home, so don’t forget to look up when you visit.
The Altun Ha Jade head stands 14.9 cm (6 inches) high and weighs 4.42 kg (9.75 Lbs). The jade from which this artifact was made was imported from ancient mines along the Motagua River valley in eastern Guatemala. Today the jade head is considered the crown jewel of Belize. Schedule. 12 de jul. de 2019 · Cost: $4 to $8 USD round trip. The Altun Ha Mayan Ruins are certainly worth a visit, but it’s really not worth more than a few hours of your time. Besides the ruins, which are small and take a maximum of two hours to navigate, there’s nothing else to do in the area.
