Ann Radcliffe ( Holborn, Londen, 9 juli 1764 – aldaar, 7 februari 1823) was een Engels romanschrijfster van voornamelijk romantische thrillers die worden gerekend tot het genre van de gothic novel . Radcliffe werd geboren als Ann Ward, een dochter van een Londense middenstander. Zij groeide op in een in kunst en cultuur geïnteresseerd milieu.

Biografía de Anne Radcliffe. De nombre Ann Ward, tras casarse con un editor a los veintidós años, comenzó a escribir para distraerse, obteniendo inmediatamente una gran popularidad, en especial entre las clases medias y altas y las jóvenes. Se considera que influenció a numerosos autores, tales como Jane Austen o Walter Scout.
Radcliffe influye también, entre otros, al gran novelista escocés Sir Walter Scott y a la pensadora Mary Wollstonecraft.
