Anna Maria was born at Jägerndorf, the eldest daughter of George, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach and his second wife Hedwig of Münsterberg-Oels, daughter of Charles I of Münsterberg-Oels. Anna Maria was brought up as a Lutheran and on 24 February 1544 became the wife of Christoph, Duke of Württemberg.
Anna Maria was the daughter of Duke Eric I of Brunswick-Calenberg (1470–1540) and Elizabeth of Brandenburg (1510–1558). She married in 1550 Margrave Albert I of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1490–1568), who had been created the first Duke of Prussia in 1525; she was his second wife. Albert died of the plague on 20 March 1568 at Tapiau Castle.

Elisabeth of Brandenburg (24 August 1510 – 25 May 1558) was a Duchess consort of Brunswick-Göttingen-Calenberg by marriage to Eric I, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and Regent of the Duchy of Brunswick-Göttingen-Calenberg during the minority of her son, Eric II, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, from 1540 until 1545.

Wilhelm came to America with his wife Anna (maiden name unknown) on the ship "Two Brothers". The ship was commanded by Thomas Arnot, ship's master.

Anna Marie von Brandenburg-Ansbach was born 28 December 1526 in Jägerndorf to Georg der Fromme von Brandenburg-Ansbach-Kulmbach (1484-1543) and Hedwig von Münsterberg-Öls (1508-1531) and died 20 May 1589 Nürtingen of unspecified causes. She married Christof von Württemberg (1515-1568) 17 March 1544 JL in Ansbach.
