Perhaps the least celebrated in a line of overlooked women, Queen Anne (1702-1714) was the woman who unified England and Scotland, took ownership of Gibraltar and helped galvanise Britain’s maturing two-party political system.
Queen Anne. Queen Anne, second daughter of King James II by his first wife Lady Anne Hyde (1637-1671), was born at St James's Palace in London on 6th February 1665. Her sister Mary and her husband William of Orange ascended the throne in 1689 (as Mary II and William III) when the Catholic James II fled the country and abdicated.

Richard was crowned in Westminster Abbey on 16th July 1377 aged 10. He married Anne of Bohemia in January 1382 and both are buried in the Abbey. His portrait hangs in the nave.
On Saturday, the Privy Council invited Georg Ludwig of Hanover to come to England as soon as possible as it was obvious the Queen's end was near. Anne died at 7:45 am on Sunday, 1 August 1714, aged 49, at Kensington Palace. The last of the Stuarts, her body lay at the palace for three weeks.

Anne reigned as Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 1702 and then, following the 1707 Act of Union, over a united kingdom as Queen of Great Britain until her death in 1714. The last of the Stuart monarchs, Anne's reign witnessed the Spanish War of Succession which helped Britain establish itself as a major world power.
8 de ene. de 2022 · Anne’s husband George of Denmark died on 28th October 1708. Path to the throne. At the time of her birth, Anne was third in line to the throne after her father and elder sister, Mary. On 6th February Anne’s father James became King James II of England and VII of Scotland. His succession meant Anne was second in line to the throne.
