Arabella was the child of Sir Winston Churchill (an ancestor of the Prime Minister of the same name) and Elizabeth Drake.
2 de jul. de 2019 · Illegitimate but loyal – the FitzJames family. Arabella Churchill was the mistress of the Duke of York for about ten years as well as being one of Anne Hyde’s ladies-in-waiting. Arabella had four children by James. Henrietta was the eldest of the siblings. She married Henry Waldegrave, the son of a cavalier in 1683.
Arabella FitzJames (1674 – 1704), became a nun in Pontoise, France taking the name Sister Ignatia. Shortly after giving birth to their first child, a daughter named Henrietta after James’ mother Henrietta Maria of France, James gave Arabella a yearly pension and a house in St. James Square, London which Arabella later sold for a handsome price.
