Arnold of Egmond (14 July 1410 – 23 February 1473) was Duke of Guelders, Count of Zutphen. Life. Arnold was born in Egmond-Binnen, North Holland, the son of John II of Egmond and Maria van Arkel . He was son of John II of Egmond and Maria van Arkel. On 11 July 1423, Arnold of Egmond, who was still a boy in years, succeeded Duke Reinald IV.

1423–1465: Arnold, son of John II. 1465–1471: Adolf, son of Arnold. 1471–1473: Arnold, second time. Arnold sold the Duchy of Guelders to Charles I, Duke of Burgundy, who was recognized by the Holy Roman Emperor as Duke of Guelders.
Charles had Duke Adolf captured and imprisoned in 1471 and reinstated Arnold on the throne of the Duchy of Guelders. Charles then bought the reversion (i.e., the right of succession to the throne) from Duke Arnold, who, against the will of the towns and the law of the land, pledged his duchy to Charles for 300,000 Rhenish florins.
