When Lady Margaretta FitzGerald was born on 2 July 1729, in County Kildare, Ireland, her father, Robert FitzGerald, 19th Earl of Kildare, was 54 and her mother, Lady Mary O'Brien, was 37. She married Wills Hill 1st Marquess of Downshire on 1 March 1747. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters.
