August Wilhelm von Schlegel (Hannover, 8 de septiembre de 1767-Bonn 12 de mayo de 1845) fue un lingüista, traductor, poeta, filósofo, crítico literario y profesor universitario alemán, hermano del también filólogo Friedrich von Schlegel.

August Wilhelm von Schlegel nació el 5 de septiembre de 1767 en Hannover. Cursó estudios en la Universidad de Gotinga. Fue profesor de literatura en las Universidades de Jena y Bonn. Junto a su hermano Friedrich, el principal filósofo del romanticismo alemán, fundó El Ateneo (1798-1800), el periódico del movimiento.
