Sir Augustus William James Clifford, primer baronet, CB (26 de mayo de 1788 - 8 de febrero de 1877) fue un oficial de la Marina Real británica, funcionario de la corte y ujier del Black Rod.
2 de may. de 2024 · Sir Augustus Clifford (1788–1877) was a Naval Captain appointed Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod from 1832 to 1877. Clifford's long tenure was a time of transition for Black Rod's Office, with a forced reduction in staff and the abolition of the additional fees system that supplemented their salary.
William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire, KG (14 December 1748 – 29 July 1811), was a British nobleman, aristocrat, and politician. He was the eldest son of William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire, by his wife, the heiress Lady Charlotte Boyle, suo jure Baroness Clifford, who brought in considerable money and estates to the Cavendish family.

Adm Sir Augustus Clifford 1st Bt, CB was born in France in 1788, the illegitimate son of William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire (and 7th Baron Clifford) (1748–1811), and Lady Elizabeth Foster (1759–1824), daughter of Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol. Sources.
