He married Alice of Courteney about 1186, in Angoulême, Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. He died on 16 June 1202, in Limoges, Haute-Vienne, Limousin, France, at the age of 41, and was buried in Abbaye Notre-Dame de La Couronne, La Couronne, Charente, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France.
