9 de oct. de 2023 · Banastre Tarleton was born in Liverpool, England, on August 21, 1754. He was the son of John Tarleton, a merchant and ship owner involved in the sugar trade and slave trade. He also served as the mayor of Liverpool for at least a year, in 1764. Banastre pursued legal studies at the Middle Temple, starting in April 1770.

It was said that while at Oxford, Tarleton excelled in only two things, athletics and gambling. Tarleton attempted to learn law but, due to gambling problems, he had to give up his attempt.
